Giovanni Benedetto CASTIGLIONE – Old bearded man, head tilted and turned to the right

Bartsch Ill. nr 50 (II/II). Good impression trimmed about 7 mm in width and 4 mm at top, of 2nd state (of 2), the plate trimmed. Tip of the upper left angle gauche missing; small thin paper areas in the left angles; horizontal fold open at right; some small corps étrangers (inherent to paper ?). Plate to the set of four “Grandes études de têtes à l’orientale”. Only one impression of first state, presenting four subjects, is know.
