Jan Uytenbogaert (1557 + 1644), un des chefs des “Remontrants”, courant th\u00e9ologique qui se d\u00e9marquait des pr\u00e9ceptes calvinistes, fut portraitur\u00e9 in 1633 by Rembrandt (le tableau est conserv\u00e9 au Rijksmuseum d’Amsterdam). Rembrandt r\u00e9alise ici \u00e0 29 ans son first portrait grav\u00e9 issu d’une commande officielle. Sous le portrait, un po\u00e8me d’Hugo Grotius, c\u00e9l\u00e8bre juriste and diplomate, ami de Uytenbogaert, en fait l’\u00e9loge, relatant les condamnations dont le c\u00e9l\u00e8bre pasteur fut l’objet : “Sa personne, le peuple ne cessait de l’accabler de menaces et l’arm\u00e9e de la condamner ; ses doctrines, la cour, contrainte, les condamnait.
